Summer Camp Scholarship

2025 Summer Camp Scholarship Application

(this does NOT apply to after school programs)

Scholarship Application

The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities (PRCF) scholarship exists to help provide access to fee-based programs and services for customers in need of financial assistance. The PRCF scholarship is valid for most (but not all) fee-based programs and services and is subject to availability within the specific programs or service.

Please note that you must ALSO enroll in the summer camp program of your choice. A scholarship application is NOT a substitute enrollment form and does not guarantee a spot in any program. Scholarship applications will not be processed if the youth participant is not already enrolled in a camp.

Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be returned for revision. Please upload all required documents at the time of submission. Ensure all documents show the name and other required identifying information.

The scholarship program is available to City of Richmond Residents Only. Eligibility for reductions up to 100% will be based on the gross annual income and household size set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Non-City of Richmond residents are not eligible for fee reductions.

Tax Return Information

  • If the filing status on the tax return is checked "Married Filing Separately", the applicant must submit their spouse's tax return.
  • If the applicant can be claimed as a dependent on their tax return, the applicant must provide the tax return(s) of the person(s) claiming them as a dependent.
Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities does not require social security numbers. Please delete that information before submitting.

Application Procedure
To be considered for a scholarship, ALL documentation must be submitted together. Submitting an application for consideration does NOT guarantee that a scholarship will be granted. To be considered for a scholarship, a signed application must be submitted for each child.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all necessary documents have been uploaded with their application if they are applying online. If submitting a paper application, all documents must be submitted with the application to the Site Supervisor at the specific location where you are applying for a scholarship. The Site Supervisor will then forward the application and documents to PRCF administration. The application will be reviewed by PRCF administration for final approval or denial. Applicant will be notified of the decision after the application has been reviewed.

*Applications are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis and submission of an application does NOT guarantee a scholarship will be awarded. Any applications with incomplete information will be returned to the applicant and moved to the bottom of the list.*

PRCF Administration will review and will make a decision on the amount of financial assistance to be distributed based on the information provided. Applicants will be notified of their status after their application has been reviewed.

  • Recreation center staff CANNOT grant scholarship waivers or guarantee scholarship approval.
  • Applications will NOT be considered unless ALL documentation has been submitted together.
  • A child CANNOT begin a program/camp without  approval from PRCF administration

Please list ALL adults and children living at the address listed above as well as the annual gross income report on the most current U.S. tax return for each person listed on the application that you wish to use in determining your household size. Any change to this part of the application after submission will require a new application and review.

If you are using the Department of Social Services to verify your income, ensure that is indicated above and you do not need to provide names and info listed below.
