Eligibility
The scholarship program is available to City of Richmond Residents Only. Eligibility for reductions up to 100% will be based on the gross annual income and household size set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). To be considered, each participant must provide the following documentation.
- At least one of the following documents to prove City residency:
- Pay stub showing current address (issued within the last 45 days)
- Utility bill showing current address (issued within the last 2 months)
- Valid and unexpired VA motor vehicle registration
- Current lease or rental agreement
- At least one of the following to show proof of Annual Income:
- A signed copy of the parent/guardian's current U.S. Individual Federal Income Tax (with minor participant listed as a dependent)
- OR a benefits award letter from the Department of Social Services with the applicant's financial information
- Must also include some documentation of proof of custody if minor is not listed on income documentation
Non-City of Richmond residents are not eligible for fee reductions.
Tax Return Information
For applicants submitting their current year U.S. Individual Tax Return (1040A or 1040EZ), you must submit tax returns for all working adults listed on the application. The total number of people listed on the application will be used to determine the household eligibility.
- If the filing status on the tax return is checked "Married Filing Separately", the applicant must submit their spouse's tax return.
- If the applicant can be claimed as a dependent on their tax return, the applicant must provide the tax return(s) of the person(s) claiming them as a dependent.
Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities does not require social security numbers. Please delete that information before submitting.
Application Procedure
To be considered for a scholarship, ALL documentation must be submitted together. Submitting an application for consideration does NOT guarantee that a scholarship will be granted. To be considered for a scholarship, a signed application must be submitted for each child.
Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all necessary documents have been uploaded with their application if they are applying online. If submitting a paper application, all documents must be submitted with the application to the Site Supervisor at the specific location where you are applying for a scholarship. The Site Supervisor will then forward the application and documents to PRCF administration. The application will be reviewed by PRCF administration for final approval or denial. Applicant will be notified of the decision after the application has been reviewed.
*Applications are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis and submission of an application does NOT guarantee a scholarship will be awarded. Any applications with incomplete information will be returned to the applicant and moved to the bottom of the list.*
PRCF Administration will review and will make a decision on the amount of financial assistance to be distributed based on the information provided. Applicants will be notified of their status after their application has been reviewed.
- Recreation center staff CANNOT grant scholarship waivers or guarantee scholarship approval.
- Applications will NOT be considered unless ALL documentation has been submitted together.
- A child CANNOT begin a program/camp without approval from PRCF administration.
