Taught by Stone Hearth Learning Opportunities (SOLO) School of Wilderness Medicine, this 16 hour course will cover the Patient Assessment System for injuries and illness more than an hour away from definitive medical care. Topics include musculoskeletal injuries, responding to allergies and asthma, and many more. The nature of this course is fast-paced with a blend of lecture, demonstrations, hands-on skill practice, scenarios, and quizzes. The course can also count toward a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) recertification through SOLO.

This program, held in conjunction with the Richmond Public Library, is a unique community-based book club program for adults and adolescents with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities and more.
